Why Dandelions?

Dandelions aren't just garden weeds—they’re rich in skin-loving properties like antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. This soap recipe harnesses those benefits to create a soothing, natural bar perfect for sensitive skin.

Ingredients:

  • Olive Oil – 300g
  • Coconut Oil – 150g
  • Shea Butter – 100g
  • Dandelion Infused Oil – 100g (made by soaking dried dandelion flowers in olive oil for 2 weeks)
  • Distilled Water – 133g
  • Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) – 63g
  • Essential Oil (optional) – Lavender or Chamomile (10–15 drops)

Safety Note:
Always wear gloves and goggles while working with lye. Work in a well-ventilated area.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Lye Water
Slowly add lye to distilled water (never the other way), stir carefully, and let cool.
  2. Melt Oils
Gently heat all oils and butters in a saucepan until fully melted. Let cool.
  3. Combine Lye + Oils
Once both mixtures are around 35–40°C, slowly pour the lye water into the oils. Use a stick blender to mix until you reach “trace” (a thin pudding-like texture).
  4. Pour Samp; Set
Pour into moulds. Tap to remove air bubbles. Cover and insulate for 24–48 hours.
  5. Unmould Samp; Cure
Unmould the soap and let it cure for 4–6 weeks in a cool, dry place before use.

Tip:
You can press dried dandelion petals on top of the soap for decoration before it hardens!
